Francisco Middle School embraces 21st Century teaching and learning to develop and nurture critical thinking, creativity, and production skills collaboratively. Teachers develop curriculum driven projects using 21st Century tools for classes. In the iMac lab, students have learned to create movies and podcasts for language arts, history, social studies and science classes. The library media center has supported students for a range of research projects and publications.

Generous support from the Pearson Group's Mobile Learning Institute and Street Side Stories has made it possible for our students to have deep and meaningful experiences with Web 2.0 tools and digital story telling. As the district pilot school for the Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) grant, three English Language Learner classrooms are using Promethean interactive white boards. A Fund For Teachers grant recently provided two more for 6th and 7th grade language arts classes. Even the after school program and Youth Outreach Workers support program provide high tech learning experiences. The FMS Technology Department is the hub connecting 21st Century tools to strong curriculum throughout the academic year.
